Stan Dotson, Dean of LifeWorks Learning Partnership®

Stan first came to Mars Hill in 1980 as
an Appalachian Scholar and graduated in
1984 with a double major in religion and
political science. After receiving his
M.Div. degree, he worked for three years
as a community organizer in Louisville,
Kentucky. Stan and his wife, Kim Christman,
served as co-pastors of Providence Baptist
Church in Stoneville, North Carolina,
for seven years. Stan came back to Mars
Hill in 1996 to direct the college's service-learning
program. He also teaches various courses
in the LAA program, and has secured
numerous grants for interdisciplinary
activities and campus-wide initiatives. Stan and Kim are active members
of the Baptist
Peace Fellowship of North America,
and in their spare time they love to garden,
play music, and watch minor league baseball
games.

Gill holds a Master of Entrepreneurship
from Western Carolina University and a
B.A. (Psychology & Theology) from the University
of Natal, South Africa. She has experience
in journalism, publishing, customer service
management, business management, and promotions.
She believes that LifeWorks, as a center
for service-learning, leadership training,
and career guidance, offers students a
wonderful opportunity to connect community
needs with their own interests, talents
and knowledge in a meaningful way. Gill
is focused on opening doors to the world
for college students through a network
of meaningful connections and opportunities,
as well as helping them choose the areas
of learning that will most meet their
interests and talents. She is also
an adjunct faculty member of the MHC
Business department.

Cindy has been a part of Mars Hill College
for the past 15 years, both as a student
and as an administrative staff member.
She is the longest-serving Bonner Scholar
Program coordinator within the Bonner
Foundation. Mars Hill College has
been very instrumental in her life, and
she always strives to give back to the
College by working with students who are
also trying to find their life path. Helping
the students make connections and find
ways to serve in the local communities
is very important to her. She and her
husband Bruce enjoy traveling and going
to the movies. She also loves to read
and try new recipes. She has a 20-year-old
daughter who is attending college in Atlanta,
Georgia.

Missy graduated from Mars Hill College
in 1998 with a B.A. in religion with a
minor in women's studies. She has a Masters
of Divinity from Candler School of Theology
at Emory University and spent three summers
at Jubilee Partners in Comer, GA, working
with refugees from Bosnia, Vietnam and
Kosovo. She has also worked with the Open
Door Community in Atlanta, doing advocacy
work with homeless people.
Missy is now focused on making service-learning
opportunities as rewarding to students
and community organizations as possible.
She also teaches an LAA 111
class and is advisor for that group
of students.

Kate is a 2007 Mars
Hill graduate with a degree in Business
Administration and a minor in Spanish.
While a Mars Hill student, Kate was
a Grayson scholar, a Challenger, and
a Snelson presidential intern. She
also ran on the cross country team
where she was named to the all-conference
and all-region team four times and
was the 2006 South Atlantic Conference
scholar athlete of the year. On the
Lifeworks team, her AmeriCorps
*VISTA projects include activities
such as working closely with
honor scholars, leading service trips, and
recruiting for the NC-ACTS! program. Kate
also enjoys reading and making pancakes.
